Children’s Ministry

AGES 0-10

We aim to help children embody love—to seek and serve Christ in all life, and to strive for justice and peace everywhere.

Growing in love and compassion, serving Christ in all life.

Following Jesus’ Way is a grounded in the experience of God’s healing, liberating, justice-making love for all life. We seek to express this love in “embodied” ways—in the real lives of people and the earth, particularly those historically marginalized such as LGBTQ+ and BIPOC people. Our young people learn to:

KNOW: Learn who God is through scripture, Episcopal tradition, and experiences within community.

BE: Experience ourselves and all life as sacred, made in the image of God.

DO: Engage in opportunities to express faith in action, exploring how Jesus’ Way of Love impacts daily life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to register my child before coming on Sunday?

ALL are welcome and registration is not required to join!

How does a typical Sunday service work if I have children?

9am Service

Everyone begins in the service and children will be invited out after the first hymn at the 9am service. Children attend Children’s Chapel in the Library and then return to the service at the Passing of the Peace.

Coffee Hour

From 10am – 11am, there is coffee, lemonade and treats in the Parish Hall. During that time, children are invited to attend Godly Play or Sunday School from 10:10 – 10:50am.

11am Service

During the 11am service, nursery is available for ages 6 weeks – 3 years old. Children older than 3 years are invited to join their parents in the main service.

Can my child take communion?

Yes! Everyone, including children, are welcome at the Communion Table.

Do you have safety policies in place?

All adults and teens who work with children are given a background check and must complete ECMN’s Safe Church Training. Please contact Heather, the Children, Youth and Family Minister with any special needs or accommodations for your child to feel safe and be successful.

Can parents and guardians sit in classes?

Yes! Parents and guardians are welcome to join classes and connect with leaders. Please contact Heather for more information.

Do you have a nursery?

We have a nursery available for ages 6 weeks – 3 years (or older if needed) with paid workers for both the 9am and 11am services. There is also space for nursing mothers and child size toilets in the nursery area.
