For more than ten years, a cadre of volunteers from St. John’s has prepared and served meals for homeless guests at Our Saviour’s Shelter on the second Fridays of even months.
In April, a number of you very kindly prepared salads and baked goods to supplement pizzas and beverages delivered to the Chicago Avenue facility.
Since that time, due to covid concerns, guests have been housed in local hotels where they are fed by the kitchen staff, so our meals are not needed in June.
This does not mean that OSS does not need our assistance, however. The volunteer coordinator has suggested a number of ways that we may support this ministry of hospitality: OSS is accepting In-kind donations, and the list of their immediate needs can be found here at a website they update regularly.
They also are accepting monetary donations online here, instead of meals.
Please reach out to OSS if you are able to offer support to our homeless neighbors.
