Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all St. John’s activities are taking place online. For everyone’s safety, there are no in-person activities at church at this time.

We welcome your musical gifts at St. John’s. Consider participating in one or more of the following opportunities during our Fall 2020 season:

Children’s Choirs

Open to singers (Pre-K through 3rd grade) regardless of experience.

  • Zoom practice | PreK-3 Grade Choirs meet with Chad & Wendy altogether at 6pm on Wednesdays, September 2 & 30, October 28, and December 2 via Zoom. After a brief check-in, PreK-Kindergarten singers work on their new song until 6:30pm. Then 1st-3rd Grade singers work on their new song from 6:30 until 7pm.
  • Video submissions | With the help of their caregivers, individual singers make videos and submit by September 16, October 14, November 11, and December 16. Virtual choir videos will be included in Online Worship on Sundays, September 20, October 18, November 15, and Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24.
  • Outdoor events | Outdoor in-person events are planned for 10am Saturdays, September 19, October 17, and November 21.

Chime Choir

Open to children and adults (4th grade and up) – regardless of experience.

  • Monthly Check in | Chimers meet briefly with Chad and Wendy via Zoom to check-in and be introduced to their new music project for the month from 7 – 7:30pm on Wednesdays, September 2, 30, October 28, and December 2.
  • Zoom practice | The choir meets again for rehearsal and recording from via Zoom from 7 – 8pm on Wednesdays, September 9 & 23, October 7 & 21, November 4 & 18, December 9 & 16. Virtual choir videos will be premiered during Online Worship on Sundays, October 11, October 25, November 22, and Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24.

Festival Choir

Open to singers 6th grade and up regardless of experience.

  • All Saints Day Anthem | Singers receive reference recordings and sheet music for their All Saints Day anthem by Monday, October 12. Individual singer’s recorded videos are due by Monday, October 26. All Saint’s Virtual Choir Video will be included in Online Worship on All Saint’s Day, Sunday, November 1.
  • Christmas Eve Anthem | Singers receive reference recordings and sheet music for their Christmas Eve anthem by Thursday, December 3. Individual singer’s recorded videos are due by Thursday, December 17. Christmas Eve Virtual Choir Video will be included in Online Worship on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24.

Online Service Musicians

Open to singers and/or instrumentalists interested in leading congregational song. Musicians receive reference recordings and sheet music on the Sunday before the Sunday Online Worship. Individual musician’s recorded videos are due by Tuesday before the Sunday. Virtual Ensemble Video(s) will be included in the coming Sunday Online Worship.

Open Mic

A performance/presentation opportunity – taking place via Zoom from 7-8pm on the final Friday of the month (September, October, November). Poetry, music, readings in a safe and family-friendly environment. All are welcome on either side of the microphone.
