UNCOMMON THREADS: Quilting as a Way to Transcend Boundaries

By July 7, 2022No Comments

Tuesday, July 19 6pm Gathering & Food \ 7pm Presentation in St. John’s Parish Hall

Joseph Mallard (aka Sunshine Joe) and Janet Hagberg have an uncommon friendship. Janet is white and Joseph is black. They have very different backgrounds and live in different parts of the country. Yet they share a passion for expressing themselves through the art of quilting. Their shared passion has led to an uncommon friendship which has changed them and the people around them. Gather with Joseph and Janet over dinner and hear their stories of quilting as a pathway to relationship that transcends boundaries of race and culture. You will be invited to consider how your passions and hobbies might be a vehicle for building relationships across these same boundaries.
Sponsored by CLNE.
CLNE is bringing Joseph to Minneapolis in July to teach sewing to children at Freedom School in North Minneapolis.
