First Nations Kitchen update

Dear Coordinators and Friends to First Nations Kitchen,

We send our greetings to you all and our prayers that you are well and safe. To use some of the words of the Right Reverend Steven Charleston (Choctaw) it is clear that we are living through an epic time right now. We hope to do this with grace and courage, facing reality together and caring for one another with “fierce love and relentless hope.”

Because of our care for our guests, our volunteers and our FNK team and because of the realities we are all facing today with the virus, we have made the difficult decision to suspend our Sunday dinners for the months of April and May.  We will be evaluating this decision as spring progresses and will update you all as we decide what is best beyond those months.

As you know, FNK has been serving steadily since Nov. 2, 2008.  We have been able to do so because of our committed partners and volunteers and our great team.  Even in these last 3 weeks of serving, with ever changing and increased safety measures, folks have shown tremendous care and fortitude in their decisions to come and to not come.  We are heartened by both actions as we firmly believe both reflect putting community first.  While our decision to stop serving temporarily may feel counterintuitive we feel this is how we love our neighbor right now.

Peace within us, peace among us,
First Nations Kitchen and All Saints Indian Mission
