St. John’s has a long history of contributing to feed the hungry. Our long financial support of the Joyce food shelf is an example of this.
Recently we have been invited to partner with St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in Richfield and El Santo Niño Jesús in St. Paul to help feed the Latinx immigrant community, many of whom are parishioners at these two congregations. Because we cannot safely package food for distribution due to COVID-19 and the stay at home orders now in place, the current request is for donations to purchase gift cards, especially for Walmart, which often has the best and least expensive food suitable for this community.
- Donations can be made to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund at St. John’s online here, or directly via checks written to St. John’s with “Rector’s Discretionary Fund” in the memo line.
- You can also send checks directly, written to St. Nicholas, with “Rector’s Discretionary Fund” in the memo line, and mailed to the Rector, The Rev. Julie Luna, 613 4th St. S., Stillwater, MN 55082.
Thank you for your support for this community which often is reluctant to use the established food banks due to issues of immigration status for themselves, friends or family members.
