Volunteers Needed for Our Saviour’s Housing Ministry on Friday, August 13

Volunteer dinner groups purchase, prepare, and serve a nutritious meal to 24 residents at our emergency shelter every night of the year. It’s a perfect opportunity for families, congregations, co-workers, or friends to join together for a fun and fulfilling evening!  St. John’s is committed to provide meals for Our Saviour’s Housing on Friday, August 13.

This homeless shelter houses about thirty guests and staff members.

We will gratefully receive easily packaged baked goods for dessert, and six quiches from volunteers who would like to prepare and deliver food items to the church kitchen by 4pm that day. Alternatively, we can arrange to pick up any food items you volunteer to prepare. Both homemade and store/restaurant-bought food are welcome.

In addition, volunteers deliver meals via cart to each resident’s room, served in disposable, individually packaged plates and containers. Two volunteers are needed from 4:00 to 5:30pm for food preparation and packaging, and another volunteer is needed from 5:30 to 7:30, for food delivery and distribution to guests at the shelter. All residents now receive meals in their room, instead of communally.

Please contact Caron Stebinger if you are able to volunteer, or if you have any questions about COVID procedures at the shelter. Additionally, you may indicate your willingness to volunteer by signing up on the chart pad in the gallery at church.
