Outdoor Worship Option

Backyard Watch Parties beginning August 2

Our Bishop has recently announced that we may begin to have small outdoor worship services. After reviewing many options, the planning team has decided the safest, most inclusive and satisfying option would be to organize outdoor backyard “watch parties” for limited groups of parishioners. Because we want to remain together as a congregation for discussions on our deep dive into dismantling racism, the planning team has decided to begin these outdoor gatherings on August 2nd and try them out in the month of August. Many more details, including how to sign up for these gatherings, will be out soon, so please stay tuned!

In the meantime, we are looking for people whose yards could accommodate groups of people six feet apart, and ideally who might have a portable TV on which the service could be played (though if this isn’t possible we’re working on other options, so volunteer regardless even if you don’t have such a TV). Please email our new Priest-In-Formation Intern Elizabeth Lienesch as soon as possible if you’d be willing to consider this, and let her know approximately how many people you could accommodate (six feet apart) as well as whether your backyard is accessible to people with mobility challenges. We will contact you soon to provide more details and support about cleaning and logistics.
